Someone left their riding gloves at home (or couldn\u2019t find them in his gear bag) so we drove through Vanderbilt campus looking for a bike shop. My new gloves fit fine. (found the \u2018forgot at home\u2019 pair the next day!!!)<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/022.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" title=\"02\" style=\"border-left-width: 0px; border-right-width: 0px; background-image: none; border-bottom-width: 0px; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; margin: 0px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px; border-top-width: 0px\" border=\"0\" alt=\"02\" src=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/02_thumb2.jpg\" width=\"1004\" height=\"663\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Within the first mile of riding we knew this was going to be a great trip. When a car approaches a bicyclist from the rear they are supposed to pull fully into the other lane. I asked her why she was wearing the face mask and her reply was that it was already so cold down here in the south. The locals said it had rained for 4 straight days. Most did it again, time after time. In some places the constant foot traffic wore down a pretty good groove.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/161.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" title=\"16\" style=\"border-left-width: 0px; border-right-width: 0px; background-image: none; border-bottom-width: 0px; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; margin: 0px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px; border-top-width: 0px\" border=\"0\" alt=\"16\" src=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/16_thumb1.jpg\" width=\"1004\" height=\"576\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>One of the historic sites explained the importance of tobacco to the southern US and it\u2019s economy. The US Park service has had cutbacks, like all Federal agencies, and instead of having a naturalist or docent&nbsp; to explain local history, here they uses \u2018guide dogs\u2019 who would grab your sleeve and lead you on the tour. We were there second group of guests! There cellphones still have a 414 area code. Note the tall water glasses . . . that was it for the drinks, water only. NO LIQUOR license. After dinner we walked across the street to the \u2018River Rat\u2019 bar for a couple of beers. BilllyB bought. The owner only had his liquor license for two months. The place was packed!!!!!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/35.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" title=\"35\" style=\"border-left-width: 0px; border-right-width: 0px; background-image: none; border-bottom-width: 0px; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px; border-top-width: 0px\" border=\"0\" alt=\"35\" src=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/35_thumb.jpg\" width=\"1004\" height=\"578\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>After a couple, beers we retired back to our nice digs for a nightcap and a viewing of the \u2018Hurt Locker\u2019, a new flick for TommyH and the G. Everyone was sleeping by 11:00pm.
