The lower level was stucco, and the upper was teak and in the Thai traditional style. It was a small house, only one room deep.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/day29_02.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin: 0px; display: inline; background-image: none;\" title=\"day29_02\" src=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/day29_02_thumb.jpg\" alt=\"day29_02\" width=\"1004\" height=\"505\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This one\u2019s for Charlie! We biked through a road improvement project and this Caterpillar grader was hard at work.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/day29_03.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin: 0px; display: inline; background-image: none;\" title=\"day29_03\" src=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/day29_03_thumb.jpg\" alt=\"day29_03\" width=\"1004\" height=\"618\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Down the way Sumitomo was the machine of choice. Here you see the man by the tree and the monkey on the fence.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/day29_07.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin: 0px; display: inline; background-image: none;\" title=\"day29_07\" src=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/day29_07_thumb.jpg\" alt=\"day29_07\" width=\"1004\" height=\"593\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The animals had collars and ropes attached, and were trained to go up into the trees to harvest the coconuts. They are taught to only select the brown ones which are ripe. This technique\u00a0 is not used much anymore. The monkeys are worth about 25,000 Baht or almost $1000 US., and very few farmers own them.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/day29_08.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin: 0px; display: inline; background-image: none;\" title=\"day29_08\" src=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/day29_08_thumb.jpg\" alt=\"day29_08\" width=\"1004\" height=\"761\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This jungle rat didn\u2019t make it across the road. We have seen mostly snakes and frogs as roadkill,<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/day29_09.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin: 0px; display: inline; background-image: none;\" title=\"day29_09\" src=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/day29_09_thumb.jpg\" alt=\"day29_09\" width=\"1004\" height=\"675\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Cultural stop number two was ant egg harvesting.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/day29_10.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin: 0px; display: inline; background-image: none;\" title=\"day29_10\" src=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/day29_10_thumb.jpg\" alt=\"day29_10\" width=\"1004\" height=\"615\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This woman was using the technique of getting into the nest and pulling the eggs and ants out \u2026. which makes the ants furious! Another method is to put the nest in water with tapioca powder. Apparently the ants can\u2019t stand it and abandon their eggs. Here Bird\u00a0 examines the eggs which are considered a tasty treat! These trees were planted right under the overhead powerline. People call out to her and greet her as she goes by. Here she even inspires a polite bow with her greeting of \u201csawat dee kaa\u201d! Woody uses a Chinese company like Amazon that gets items delivered to him in two or three days.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/day29_26.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin: 0px; display: inline; background-image: none;\" title=\"day29_26\" src=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/day29_26_thumb.jpg\" alt=\"day29_26\" width=\"1004\" height=\"592\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Rubber tree tapping underway. Bird, MJ and Mr. Chin join our new friends. Richard and Owen had started in Bangkok and like us were headed south along the coast. We had a brief chat about Brexit and Trump, controversial topics in each country!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/day29_28.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin: 0px; display: inline; background-image: none;\" title=\"day29_28\" src=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/day29_28_thumb.jpg\" alt=\"day29_28\" width=\"1004\" height=\"792\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Then these cross-country cyclists passed by! These are the only \u201cthrough riders\u201d we have seen in Thailand, and saw all five within an hour on the same day! It has been SO scenic along the Gulf of Thailand coast!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/day29_31.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin: 0px; display: inline; background-image: none;\" title=\"day29_31\" src=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/day29_31_thumb.jpg\" alt=\"day29_31\" width=\"1004\" height=\"598\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>And around the curve, this was our view. We had our usual seven unique dishes, including an amazing crab salad.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/day29_34.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin: 0px; display: inline; background-image: none;\" title=\"day29_34\" src=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/day29_34_thumb.jpg\" alt=\"day29_34\" width=\"1004\" height=\"610\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>And we left a mess behind!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/day29_35.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin: 0px; display: inline; background-image: none;\" title=\"day29_35\" src=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/day29_35_thumb.jpg\" alt=\"day29_35\" width=\"1004\" height=\"788\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>We had a short 6 K ride to the hotel, the Tusita Wellness Resort. Mr. Pree tried to join the staff who were handing out refreshing minty towelettes and\u00a0 cold drinks\u2026but the hotel staff don\u2019t look so sure about that!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/day29_36.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin: 0px; display: inline; background-image: none;\" title=\"day29_36\" src=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/day29_36_thumb.jpg\" alt=\"day29_36\" width=\"1004\" height=\"523\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>A beautiful pool lies at the center of our cabanas, connected by elevated walkways everywhere.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/day29_37.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin: 0px; display: inline; background-image: none;\" title=\"day29_37\" src=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/day29_37_thumb.jpg\" alt=\"day29_37\" width=\"1004\" height=\"548\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Home sweet home! Unlike most of our other hotels, this one does not have the integrated room-key-with-electrical-service. As a result, our room was comfy and cool when we strolled in.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/day29_38.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"display: inline; background-image: none;\" title=\"day29_38\" src=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/day29_38_thumb.jpg\" alt=\"day29_38\" width=\"1004\" height=\"678\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>A banana snack garnished with plumeria flowers awaits us!
