We are waiting to head out from the hotel.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/day17_02-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin: 0px; display: inline; background-image: none;\" title=\"day17_02\" src=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/day17_02_thumb-1.jpg\" alt=\"day17_02\" width=\"980\" height=\"471\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>We drove down Highway 1, first along the Ping River. The Ping flows into the Chao Phraya River which continues on into Bangkok. Our bikes were hauled in a truck that drove down with our two Spice Roads vans. We stopped at a location along the river to start our ride. Here Woody starts to put the bikes back together.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/day17_03-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"display: inline; background-image: none;\" title=\"day17_03\" src=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/day17_03_thumb-1.jpg\" alt=\"day17_03\" width=\"1004\" height=\"540\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Next door to where our bikes were being assembled was a garage filled with long dragon racing boats.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/day17_04-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin: 0px; display: inline; background-image: none;\" title=\"day17_04\" src=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/day17_04_thumb-1.jpg\" alt=\"day17_04\" width=\"1004\" height=\"379\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This one could hold up to 42 paddlers!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/day17_05-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin: 0px; display: inline; background-image: none;\" title=\"day17_05\" src=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/day17_05_thumb-1.jpg\" alt=\"day17_05\" width=\"804\" height=\"470\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This one had been blessed and marked by a Buddhist monk.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/day17_06-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin: 0px; display: inline; background-image: none;\" title=\"day17_06\" src=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/day17_06_thumb-1.jpg\" alt=\"day17_06\" width=\"1004\" height=\"544\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>We biked along the river and through the countryside. Many of the homes were simple and unpainted like this.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/day17_07-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin: 0px; display: inline; background-image: none;\" title=\"day17_07\" src=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/day17_07_thumb-1.jpg\" alt=\"day17_07\" width=\"1004\" height=\"495\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Roads along the river and the fields were very nice, quiet.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/day17_08-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin: 0px; display: inline; background-image: none;\" title=\"day17_08\" src=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/day17_08_thumb-1.jpg\" alt=\"day17_08\" width=\"1004\" height=\"637\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>And there are some new houses!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/day17_09-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin: 0px; display: inline; background-image: none;\" title=\"day17_09\" src=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/day17_09_thumb-1.jpg\" alt=\"day17_09\" width=\"1004\" height=\"563\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Many homes were on stilts, in part because this area was badly flooded about 8 years ago. Many homes have been rebuilt to withstand future floods.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/day17_10-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin: 0px; display: inline; background-image: none;\" title=\"day17_10\" src=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/day17_10_thumb-1.jpg\" alt=\"day17_10\" width=\"804\" height=\"693\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Fresh water is important. We tried fresh peanuts from the field, and they were tasty!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/day17_20-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin: 0px; display: inline; background-image: none;\" title=\"day17_20\" src=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/day17_20_thumb-1.jpg\" alt=\"day17_20\" width=\"1004\" height=\"610\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>She is harvesting peanuts which grow at the base of the plant with the roots.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/day17_21-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin: 0px; display: inline; background-image: none;\" title=\"day17_21\" src=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/day17_21_thumb-1.jpg\" alt=\"day17_21\" width=\"1004\" height=\"616\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>We haven\u2019t seen that many Thais on bikes, and even fewer kids,so it was fun to see this happy group.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/day17_22-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin: 0px; display: inline; background-image: none;\" title=\"day17_22\" src=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/day17_22_thumb-1.jpg\" alt=\"day17_22\" width=\"1004\" height=\"656\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>And then, just after Rick and the kids greeted each other saying \u201cHappy!\u201d, his back tire went flat. Rick got to work, and before he knew it, Mr. Rin was there to help finish the job.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/day17_23-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin: 0px; display: inline; background-image: none;\" title=\"day17_23\" src=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/day17_23_thumb-1.jpg\" alt=\"day17_23\" width=\"1002\" height=\"544\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Mr. Rin found this squished toad, and told Rick to keep it on his bike seat for the rest of his ride, for good luck! Good luck so he does not get more flats.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/day17_24-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin: 0px; display: inline; background-image: none;\" title=\"day17_24\" src=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/day17_24_thumb-1.jpg\" alt=\"day17_24\" width=\"1004\" height=\"789\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>And then, one mile down the road, MJ was having the exact same problem! Gregory and Leslie helped her out until Mr. Pree came along to finish the job.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/day17_25-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin: 0px; display: inline; background-image: none;\" title=\"day17_25\" src=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/day17_25_thumb-1.jpg\" alt=\"day17_25\" width=\"804\" height=\"511\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>We all reconnoitered at a clinic for a snack break. These characters are grim reapers, and the building was a crematorium.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/day17_30-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin: 0px; display: inline; background-image: none;\" title=\"day17_30\" src=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/day17_30_thumb.jpg\" alt=\"day17_30\" width=\"1004\" height=\"494\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>We enjoyed a late lunch on while cruising on a restored rice barge on the Sakaekrang River.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/day17_31.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin: 0px; display: inline; background-image: none;\" title=\"day17_31\" src=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/day17_31_thumb.jpg\" alt=\"day17_31\" width=\"1004\" height=\"482\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>We passed houseboats on the river, in a variety of conditions. Nice pool and good birdwatching too!
