By bicycle is the perfect way. We rode down &#8220;Ceramics Alley&#8221; where there were several ceramic businesses, and lots of artwork along the way.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/day15_02.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin: 0px; display: inline; background-image: none;\" title=\"day15_02\" src=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/day15_02_thumb.jpg\" alt=\"day15_02\" width=\"1004\" height=\"547\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Mermaid Buddha. We have noticed that some of the Buddhas look very feminine, but we were told Buddha was male, and some representations of him are very feminine in style.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/day15_03.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin: 0px; display: inline; background-image: none;\" title=\"day15_03\" src=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/day15_03_thumb.jpg\" alt=\"day15_03\" width=\"1004\" height=\"754\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>We strolled through a ceramic shop where these fellows were collaborating on a big sculpture.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/day15_04.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin: 0px; display: inline; background-image: none;\" title=\"day15_04\" src=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/day15_04_thumb.jpg\" alt=\"day15_04\" width=\"1004\" height=\"754\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Sweet golden retriever! We have noticed many dogs wearing shirts and sweaters in northern Thailand. This woman was drawing one on a cup to be eventually painted and glazed. She handed MJ a cup to try her fish-drawing talents. He decided he&#8217;d better get up and look busy!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/day15_15.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin: 0px; display: inline; background-image: none;\" title=\"day15_15\" src=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/day15_15_thumb.jpg\" alt=\"day15_15\" width=\"1004\" height=\"402\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Our major site visit of the day was to a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Sukhothai Historical Park. There are over 40 temple complexes spread over a wide area. It gives you a sense of the influence and sophistication of the Sukhothai Kingdom which arose in the early 13th C and came to dominate the plains of central Thailand.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/day15_16.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin: 0px; display: inline; background-image: none;\" title=\"day15_16\" src=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/day15_16_thumb.jpg\" alt=\"day15_16\" width=\"1004\" height=\"695\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Prominent features are the city walls and accompanying moats. Ruins of wats are spread over a very large area. She can always find interesting, well made, unique items. Here Monica, Barb and MJ model hand-stitched jackets.
