Here he is at \u20180 dark thirty&#8217;, by headlamp, \u2019 slicing strawberries for us to put on our oat meal. Such service!!!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/day18_02.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" style=\"margin: 0px; display: inline; background-image: none;\" title=\"day18_02\" src=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/day18_02_thumb.jpg\" alt=\"day18_02\" width=\"1004\" height=\"654\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Ryan is a taskmaster and doesn&#8217;t allow any breakfast or lunch prep until 6:55am. However, coffee is served earlier via French presses. Dave, Gina, Ann and me are allows in line trying to \u2018push\u2019 the five minutes \u2018plunge time\u00a0 . . . but he is strict . . . FIVE MINUTES EXACTLY!!!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/day18_03.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" style=\"margin: 0px; display: inline; background-image: none;\" title=\"day18_03\" src=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/day18_03_thumb.jpg\" alt=\"day18_03\" width=\"1004\" height=\"754\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>. . . ahh, finally that first cup. YUM!!!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/day18_04.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" style=\"margin: 0px; display: inline; background-image: none;\" title=\"day18_04\" src=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/day18_04_thumb.jpg\" alt=\"day18_04\" width=\"1004\" height=\"631\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>These folks were set up right outside of the bathroom. A tent inside a tent. Must not like bugs, although at this time of year there a virtually none!!!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/day18_05.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" style=\"margin: 0px; display: inline; background-image: none;\" title=\"day18_05\" src=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/day18_05_thumb.jpg\" alt=\"day18_05\" width=\"1004\" height=\"786\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Soon we were on the road and although the scale of this photo does not do a good job of representing the 300 foot headwall of timber in front of us as we exited the campground, we all wondered how we were going to get over it. But we did!!!!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/day18_06.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" style=\"margin: 0px; display: inline; background-image: none;\" title=\"day18_06\" src=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/day18_06_thumb.jpg\" alt=\"day18_06\" width=\"1004\" height=\"728\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Once again, Oregon DOT looking out for us!!!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/day18_07.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" style=\"margin: 0px; display: inline; background-image: none;\" title=\"day18_07\" src=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/day18_07_thumb.jpg\" alt=\"day18_07\" width=\"1004\" height=\"754\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>More fantastic views as we skirted the coast in the morning light.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/day18_08.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" style=\"margin: 0px; display: inline; background-image: none;\" title=\"day18_08\" src=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/day18_08_thumb.jpg\" alt=\"day18_08\" width=\"1004\" height=\"754\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Shadows are harsh at this time of the morning . . .<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/day18_09.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" style=\"margin: 0px; display: inline; background-image: none;\" title=\"day18_09\" src=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/day18_09_thumb.jpg\" alt=\"day18_09\" width=\"1004\" height=\"491\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>But as the sun rises the colorama comes alive!!!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/day18_10.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" style=\"margin: 0px; display: inline; background-image: none;\" title=\"day18_10\" src=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/day18_10_thumb.jpg\" alt=\"day18_10\" width=\"1004\" height=\"754\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Lots of geologic activity along the coast and there are many slide areas. Usually there are signs warning drivers and bikers . . . but as a cyclist one ALWAYS needs to be aware.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/day18_12.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" style=\"margin: 0px; display: inline; background-image: none;\" title=\"day18_12\" src=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/day18_12_thumb.jpg\" alt=\"day18_12\" width=\"1004\" height=\"754\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Coastal communities seem to have a fascination with BigFoot and dinosaurs . . . here is one of several dinosaurs parks we&#8217;ve seen along the way. Nothing moving here . . .<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/day18_11.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" style=\"display: inline; background-image: none;\" title=\"day18_11\" src=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/day18_11_thumb.jpg\" alt=\"day18_11\" width=\"1004\" height=\"754\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>. . . except this poochie who was\u00a0 back and forth in the window like a duck in a shooting gallery!!!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/day18_13.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" style=\"margin: 0px; display: inline; background-image: none;\" title=\"day18_13\" src=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/day18_13_thumb.jpg\" alt=\"day18_13\" width=\"1004\" height=\"754\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Hope Joe saw this and stopped by Ray\u2019s for the meat bonanza (whatever that is). Could be some good eatin\u2019 for our carnivores!!!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/day18_14.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" style=\"margin: 0px; display: inline; background-image: none;\" title=\"day18_14\" src=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/day18_14_thumb.jpg\" alt=\"day18_14\" width=\"1004\" height=\"732\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Along the way today we met Gerald who is biking from Canada to South America. Safe travels!!!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/day18_15.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" style=\"display: inline; background-image: none;\" title=\"day18_15\" src=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/day18_15_thumb.jpg\" alt=\"day18_15\" width=\"1004\" height=\"570\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>. . . mile after mile of coastline.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/day18_18.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" style=\"display: inline; background-image: none;\" title=\"day18_18\" src=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/day18_18_thumb.jpg\" alt=\"day18_18\" width=\"1004\" height=\"630\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I was curious about the type and size\u00a0 of house that must be up the hill from here, with having such an elaborate, and expensive, entry gate . . .<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/day18_17.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" style=\"margin: 0px; display: inline; background-image: none;\" title=\"day18_17\" src=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/day18_17_thumb.jpg\" alt=\"day18_17\" width=\"1004\" height=\"473\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>. . . I looked back and saw part of it but their must be more hidden out of view.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/day18_19.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" style=\"margin: 0px; display: inline; background-image: none;\" title=\"day18_19\" src=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/day18_19_thumb.jpg\" alt=\"day18_19\" width=\"1004\" height=\"603\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Several more miles of beach and\u00a0 . . .<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/day18_20.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" style=\"margin: 0px; display: inline; background-image: none;\" title=\"day18_20\" src=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/day18_20_thumb.jpg\" alt=\"day18_20\" width=\"1004\" height=\"754\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>. . . we arrived in Gold Beach, a town of several thousand. Bicyclists were not going to fall over this one in high winds!!!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/day18_30.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" style=\"margin: 0px; display: inline; background-image: none;\" title=\"day18_30\" src=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/day18_30_thumb.jpg\" alt=\"day18_30\" width=\"1004\" height=\"754\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>When you are biking along at 13 miles an hour you have time to take in visually what is presented to you. Here was a local \u2018art display\u2019 presenting what, maybe a message about modern transportation, waste of natural resources, returning to the rock of the earth . . . or maybe it was just some hiker or kids having fun. A rock on every post!!!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/day18_31.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" style=\"margin: 0px; display: inline; background-image: none;\" title=\"day18_31\" src=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/day18_31_thumb.jpg\" alt=\"day18_31\" width=\"1004\" height=\"771\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Communication both data and cellphone coverage have REALLY been a problem for us along the way. The state parks we stay in do not have wifi and cellphone coverage is almost non-existent. Thus, a hard time keeping this journal up to date. Tomorrow is our rest day and as Anne and I rolled into Brookings, OR and Harris State Park, our home for the next two night, there were three cell phone towers right out side the park. Shouldn&#8217;t be a problem here!!!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/day18_32.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" style=\"display: inline; background-image: none;\" title=\"day18_32\" src=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/day18_32_thumb.jpg\" alt=\"day18_32\" width=\"1004\" height=\"944\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Since check-in was still two hours away, Anne and I went downtown to look for the laundry and scope out the other necessities one needs for a rest day and met Patti.
