We had breakfast in sort of an open air garage area of the KOA back lot . . . COLD!!!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/day12_02.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin: 0px; display: inline; background-image: none;\" title=\"day12_02\" src=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/day12_02_thumb.jpg\" alt=\"day12_02\" width=\"1004\" height=\"627\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>. . . and as we left camp, we passed patches of grass that did have frost. At this point many of us were thinking . . . and we paid good money to do this!!!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/day12_03.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin: 0px; display: inline; background-image: none;\" title=\"day12_03\" src=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/day12_03_thumb.jpg\" alt=\"day12_03\" width=\"1004\" height=\"665\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>We all headed over to the Lewis and Clark Over Wintering exhibit where the expedition had overwintered before heading back east after their western exploration.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/day12_04.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin: 0px; display: inline; background-image: none;\" title=\"day12_04\" src=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/day12_04_thumb.jpg\" alt=\"day12_04\" width=\"1004\" height=\"754\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The fort was actually very small . . . less space to heat!!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/day12_05.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"display: inline; background-image: none;\" title=\"day12_05\" src=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/day12_05_thumb.jpg\" alt=\"day12_05\" width=\"1004\" height=\"754\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Sacajawea, an Indian women, was very instrumental in the western exploration being a success.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/day12_06.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin: 0px; display: inline; background-image: none;\" title=\"day12_06\" src=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/day12_06_thumb.jpg\" alt=\"day12_06\" width=\"1004\" height=\"754\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>. . . these cabins were looking familiar . . .<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/day12_07.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin: 0px; display: inline; background-image: none;\" title=\"day12_07\" src=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/day12_07_thumb.jpg\" alt=\"day12_07\" width=\"1004\" height=\"754\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>. . . the fort had been the site of many councils . . .<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/day12_08.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin: 0px; display: inline; background-image: none;\" title=\"day12_08\" src=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/day12_08_thumb.jpg\" alt=\"day12_08\" width=\"1004\" height=\"754\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>. . . and the interior rooms were beginning to look like . . .<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/day12_10.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin: 0px; display: inline; background-image: none;\" title=\"day12_10\" src=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/day12_10_thumb.jpg\" alt=\"day12_10\" width=\"1004\" height=\"754\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>. . .\u00a0 the KOA cottages we had just left!!!!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/day12_11.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"display: inline; background-image: none;\" title=\"day12_11\" src=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/day12_11_thumb.jpg\" alt=\"day12_11\" width=\"1004\" height=\"841\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>. . . as I was warming up in the sun, Rich said I looked like a model for Showers Pass rainwear and suggested I send them a shot for their \u2018senior members&#8217; client catalog!!!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/day12_12.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin: 0px; display: inline; background-image: none;\" title=\"day12_12\" src=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/day12_12_thumb.jpg\" alt=\"day12_12\" width=\"1004\" height=\"724\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Soon we were back on the road heading south, riding fast enough to warm up.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/day12_13.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin: 0px; display: inline; background-image: none;\" title=\"day12_13\" src=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/day12_13_thumb.jpg\" alt=\"day12_13\" width=\"1004\" height=\"687\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Oregon is VERY friendly to bicyclists and have great modern campgrounds . . . AND TIME LIMIT FREE showers. No depositing quarters for three minute segments!!!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/day12_14.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin: 0px; display: inline; background-image: none;\" title=\"day12_14\" src=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/day12_14_thumb.jpg\" alt=\"day12_14\" width=\"1004\" height=\"602\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>We me David and Mikaela, who were looping from Astoria to Seaside and back for the day. Both were on vacation from their jobs in Seattle.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/day12_15.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin: 0px; display: inline; background-image: none;\" title=\"day12_15\" src=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/day12_15_thumb.jpg\" alt=\"day12_15\" width=\"1004\" height=\"500\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Soon we arrived in Seaside and had our first sighting of the ocean . . .<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/day12_16.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin: 0px; display: inline; background-image: none;\" title=\"day12_16\" src=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/day12_16_thumb.jpg\" alt=\"day12_16\" width=\"1004\" height=\"531\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>. . . which we would follow for the rest of the day BEAUTIFUL, The smells, the scenery, the vistas were fantastic and the temps got about 60 degrees!!!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/day12_17.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin: 0px; display: inline; background-image: none;\" title=\"day12_17\" src=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/day12_17_thumb.jpg\" alt=\"day12_17\" width=\"1004\" height=\"535\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Down the road we went to . . .<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/day12_18.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin: 0px; display: inline; background-image: none;\" title=\"day12_18\" src=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/day12_18_thumb.jpg\" alt=\"day12_18\" width=\"1004\" height=\"604\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>. . . our first tunnel of the trip.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/day12_19.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin: 0px; display: inline; background-image: none;\" title=\"day12_19\" src=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/day12_19_thumb.jpg\" alt=\"day12_19\" width=\"1004\" height=\"595\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Only a quarter mile long, you push the button on the pole to the left which starts lights flashing on the top of the bridge letting approaching cars know there are bikers in the tunnel.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/day12_20.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin: 0px; display: inline; background-image: none;\" title=\"day12_20\" src=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/day12_20_thumb.jpg\" alt=\"day12_20\" width=\"1004\" height=\"754\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>For three of our riders who passed through at separate times, it was a warning to logging truckers to have some \u2018fun\u2019 and blow their air horns as soon as they got next to our riders. Hugh called Oregon DOT to complain, but with out a license number, or company name from the truck, they were not willing to do much.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/day12_21.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin: 0px; display: inline; background-image: none;\" title=\"day12_21\" src=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/day12_21_thumb.jpg\" alt=\"day12_21\" width=\"1004\" height=\"674\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>A REAL Kodak moment around every corner . . .<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/day12_22.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin: 0px; display: inline; background-image: none;\" title=\"day12_22\" src=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/day12_22_thumb.jpg\" alt=\"day12_22\" width=\"1004\" height=\"754\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>. . . but watch for falling and fallen rocks on the road!!!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/day12_23.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin: 0px; display: inline; background-image: none;\" title=\"day12_23\" src=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/day12_23_thumb.jpg\" alt=\"day12_23\" width=\"1004\" height=\"754\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>At Seaside we had\u00a0 big climb and\u00a0 an unexpected sudden 2 mile long downhill into town. As we approached our home for the night Manzanita, we had another BIG 4 mile downhill but in this case could see the town below . . . BEAUTIFUL!!!!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/day12_24.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"display: inline; background-image: none;\" title=\"day12_24\" src=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/day12_24_thumb.jpg\" alt=\"day12_24\" width=\"1004\" height=\"680\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>What a day had it been and we are hoping for three more before the next rain is predicted.
