Tom, Barb, Rick and emJay caught a train from Alessandria to Torino. Our hotel, the Hotel Genova, is a short walk from the train station. And this is how towns look here during August holidays . . . ghost towns!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/it_dy11_02.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image: none; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; margin: 0px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px; border: 0px;\" title=\"it_dy11_02\" src=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/it_dy11_02_thumb.jpg\" alt=\"it_dy11_02\" width=\"1004\" height=\"541\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Our room is spacious enough, with a Juliette window in the bedroom looking to the street below, and a tiny balcony accessible via the bathroom!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/it_dy11_08.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image: none; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; margin: 0px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px; border: 0px;\" title=\"it_dy11_08\" src=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/it_dy11_08_thumb.jpg\" alt=\"it_dy11_08\" width=\"1004\" height=\"567\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The funniest thing about our room is the ceiling, which makes it look like we are part of a bigger building . . . the Sistine Chapel?!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/it_dy11_03.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image: none; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; margin: 0px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px; border: 0px;\" title=\"it_dy11_03\" src=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/it_dy11_03_thumb.jpg\" alt=\"it_dy11_03\" width=\"1004\" height=\"617\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Many restaurants and businesses are closed for the holiday! Of five regularly recommended restaurants near our hotel, only one was open tonight: Slurp! In spite of the funny name, Slurp was a fine restaurant. Here are fresh grilled vegetables with salmon.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/it_dy11_04.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image: none; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; margin: 0px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px; border: 0px;\" title=\"it_dy11_04\" src=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/it_dy11_04_thumb.jpg\" alt=\"it_dy11_04\" width=\"1004\" height=\"564\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>We shared two desserts per couple, a creative form of tiramisu, and panna cotta with crumbled chocolate\u00a0 bits on top!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/it_dy11_05.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image: none; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; margin: 0px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px; border: 0px;\" title=\"it_dy11_05\" src=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/it_dy11_05_thumb.jpg\" alt=\"it_dy11_05\" width=\"1004\" height=\"580\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Slurp! has a specialty . . . sugar cubes soaked in flavored grain alcohol. They packed a punch!
