They have a Clucking Contest every Thursday night at 8:00pm for the best chicken impersonator. The winner gets their buffet for free that night. In September, all the weekly winners are invited back for a \u201cCluck Off\u2019. The winner gets $200!!!! Ends up Wade does a pretty good chicken imitation, but we were gone by 8:00pm. Some were already getting ready for bed!!!!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/nr7602.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image: none; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; margin: 0px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px; border-width: 0px;\" title=\"nr7602\" src=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/nr7602_thumb.jpg\" alt=\"nr7602\" width=\"1004\" height=\"585\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>A bright and\u00a0 beautiful morning today in Old Forge. I actually slept in until 7:00am!!!! Old Forge is like any other tourist town we have been through though, mainly restaurants and shops. This one was very tidy though and not too tacky.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/nr7603.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image: none; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; margin: 0px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px; border-width: 0px;\" title=\"nr7603\" src=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/nr7603_thumb.jpg\" alt=\"nr7603\" width=\"1004\" height=\"754\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Some of \u2018late risers\u2019 headed down to Walt\u2019s Diner\u00a0 . . .<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/nr7604.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image: none; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; margin: 0px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px; border-width: 0px;\" title=\"nr7604\" src=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/nr7604_thumb.jpg\" alt=\"nr7604\" width=\"602\" height=\"391\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>. . . voted the best breakfast for the last three years. (as you might expect, food is a BIG deal on a layover day).<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/nr7608.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image: none; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; margin: 0px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px; border-width: 0px;\" title=\"nr7608\" src=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/nr7608_thumb.jpg\" alt=\"nr7608\" width=\"1004\" height=\"621\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Time for a little stroll up and down main street. Only two stops interested me. This kayak shop\u00a0 . . .<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/nr7609.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image: none; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; margin: 0px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px; border-width: 0px;\" title=\"nr7609\" src=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/nr7609_thumb.jpg\" alt=\"nr7609\" width=\"1004\" height=\"355\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>. . . is the biggest in the northeast with over 1,000, kayaks and canoes on site for sale. Something for everyone!!!!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/nr7610.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image: none; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; margin: 0px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px; border-width: 0px;\" title=\"nr7610\" src=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/nr7610_thumb.jpg\" alt=\"nr7610\" width=\"1004\" height=\"668\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>My favorite stop was the Mountain Man Outdoor shop. Foe those from MPLS who may remember Midwest Mountaineering or Eastern Mountain Sports, it was that kind of place. I wandered around for an hour. It\u2019s a good thing the end of the trip is nearing or\u00a0 I would have bought WAY more gear than I need to carry. Would have been nice to have been in a place like this BEFORE the trip . . .<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/nr7611.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image: none; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; margin: 0px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px; border-width: 0px;\" title=\"nr7611\" src=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/nr7611_thumb.jpg\" alt=\"nr7611\" width=\"1004\" height=\"658\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>They also had bikes including several electric mountain bikes. I had a discussion with Dan and mentioned \u2018It just doesn&#8217;t seem right to me\u2019. He said that a actually the ones they have sold have been to hunters who use them to get further back into the woods to find that ideal hunting spot. They sold one to a guy who went hunting in Utah and used it to skid out the carcass of an deer he shot!!!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/nr7612.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image: none; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; margin: 0px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px; border-width: 0px;\" title=\"nr7612\" src=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/nr7612_thumb.jpg\" alt=\"nr7612\" width=\"1004\" height=\"654\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Beside everything you needed for camping they also had a nice selection of ukuleles and banjoes for use around the camp fire FUN!!!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/nr7613.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image: none; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px; border-width: 0px;\" title=\"nr7613\" src=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/nr7613_thumb.jpg\" alt=\"nr7613\" width=\"904\" height=\"421\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>They also had 3 or 4 of these outside for sale . . .<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/nr7614.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image: none; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; margin: 0px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px; border-width: 0px;\" title=\"nr7614\" src=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/nr7614_thumb.jpg\" alt=\"nr7614\" width=\"1004\" height=\"767\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>. . .which\u00a0 looks like this when \u2018inflated\u2019. We are trying to convince Mark to trade in his Topeak trailer for one of these to pull behind his bike. He\u00a0 could haul all the group gear. At $8,900 it\u2019s a steal!!!!!<\/p>\n<p>As one reviewer commented,<em> \u201cThe GO is the camper answer for the Apple tech set: innovative, user friendly, beautifully designed and painfully expensive. It\u2019s an excellent compact alternative to standard pop-up campers, with the bonus of lots of gear towing and storage versatility, though the price is almost double what we\u2019d expect.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-12743\" src=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/5-3.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1000\" height=\"750\" srcset=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/5-3.jpg 1000w, https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/5-3-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/5-3-768x576.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Tonight we ate right down the street at Frankie&#8217;s who has been serving it up for over 30 years!!!<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-12739\" src=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/1-4.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1000\" height=\"833\" srcset=\"https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/1-4.jpg 1000w, https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/1-4-300x250.jpg 300w, https:\/\/travels.wohu.us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/1-4-768x640.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The place was full upstairs so the &#8216;bourbon sipping group&#8217; went downstairs to eat in the lounge area. Subdued lighting, Frank Sinatra singing in the background and a wall off 88 different bourbons (Frankie likes bourbon!) (not sure what the others upstairs in the main dining room had to eat AND drink).<\/p>\n<p>Tomorrow it is on to Long Lake, back to sleeping on the ground and one pot meals.
